Switch Element Accessibility Label

Note:
  • Rule Category : Accessibility Labels
  • WCAG Guidelines : 2.1 - 1.3.1 (A)
  • Rule Severity : Serious
  • Supported Platforms : Android, iOS

Description

Switch element should have both name & value available to Screen Readers. This ensures Switch controls are fully accessible, allowing their label & state (on/off) to be accurately communicated to users relying on Screen Readers.

How to fix

  • Provide label for CheckBox control using properties such as hint or associate it with another element using labelFor. This ensures so that both the name of the switch and its value (on/off status) are effectively conveyed by screen readers.
