View Type in Element Accessibility Label

Note:
  • Rule Category : Accessibility Labels
  • WCAG Guidelines : Best Practice
  • Rule Severity : Minor
  • Supported Platforms : Android, iOS

Description

Avoid including the control type name in the accessibility label of UI elements. Screen readers typically announce the type of UI controls based on their built-in or user-defined traits, making the repetition of the control type in the label unnecessary and potentially verbose.

How to fix

  • Ensure that accessibility label defined does not contain information about the type of the view. Assistive technologies automatically convey the element’s type and current state alongside its accessible name.
