Idle timeout for App Live test sessions

Idle session timeout refers to the time that your App Live test session can remain idle without any activity, before being logged out of the session. App Live implements the idle timeout setting for optimal utilization of BrowserStack devices and network resources, and adding a security layer for your test sessions.

Idle session timeout options

The default idle session timeout for a first-time App Live user session is 5 minutes. During a session, you can change the idle session timeout to 10 minutes or 15 minutes. This value applies to the current and subsequent Live test sessions.

Enterprise Plus plan users also have the option to set the idle session timeout value to 30 minutes or 45 minutes for the current session. After the current session ends, the idle timeout value reverts to the value that was previously set.

If you are on a paid plan other than the Enterprise Plus plan and want the option to change the idle session timeout values for the current session, contact BrowserStack support.

Set idle session timeout

  1. Log in to the App Live dashboard.
  2. Upload or install your app, and select the device from the device listing, to launch your test session.
  3. On the App Live horizontal toolbar, click Settings.
  4. Click the dropdown and select the timeout option. Set idle timeout You see a message on the dashboard that the idle timeout is updated.

If your App Live session is inactive for more than the set idle timeout, your session automatically closes, with the following message displayed on the dashboard. Idle timeout set message
