Idle timeout for App Live test sessions

Idle session timeout refers to the time that your App Live test session can remain idle without any activity, before being logged out of the session. App Live implements the idle timeout setting for optimal utilization of BrowserStack devices and network resources, and adding a security layer for your test sessions.

Idle session timeout options

The default idle timeout for a first-time App Live user session is 5 minutes. During your session, you can set idle timeout by selecting from the following preset options available:

The idle timeout options of 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes are applicable to the current and all subsequent App Live test sessions.

The idle timeout options of 30 minutes and 45 minutes, available only for Enterprise users, are applicable to the ongoing session only.

After the session ends, the timeout automatically reverts to one of the following:

  • 5 minutes/10 minutes/15 minutes option that you had set for your previous sessions.
  • The default 5 minutes, if you are a new user.
Important: The idle timeout options of 30 minutes and 45 minutes are available for Enterprise users only. Paid users can request access to the additional idle timeout options by contacting BrowserStack support.

Set idle session timeout

  1. Log in to the App Live dashboard.
  2. Upload or install your app, and select the device from the device listing, to launch your test session.
  3. On the App Live horizontal toolbar, click Settings.
  4. Click the dropdown and select the timeout option. Set idle timeout You see a message on the dashboard that the idle timeout is updated.
