Email Notifications

Stay updated on the testing activities in your organization. Customize the types of email notifications you want to receive.

You can configure two types of email notifications on Test Observability:

  • Build Insights emails
  • Daily Summary emails

Build Insights emails

You can configure Build Insights email to receive an email after each build is completed. The email contains a quick snapshot of each build run, including the following:

  • Build Metadata (Status, Duration, Git Commit, CI Job ID, and more)
  • Test Status Breakdown (Number of Tests, Passed, Failed, Skipped)
  • Smart Test Statuses (New Failures, Always Failing, Flaky Tests, Muted Tests)
  • Failure Categories (Breakdown of tests by Failure Categories with Smart Failure Analysis)

Clicking the email content will take you directly into the Build Insights view on Test Observability so you can start debugging. Test Observability lets you choose which builds to include in the Build Insights emails.

Daily Summary emails

The Daily Summary email provides a snapshot of all the team’s builds run in the past 24 hours. With Build Summary emails, you can check your inbox every morning and review the previous day’s testing activities. If anything needs addressing, you can quickly jump into builds or projects that interest you. Test Observability lets you choose which projects to include in the Daily Summary emails.

Configuring Email Notifications

You can configure Email Notifications at a Project Level or a User Level.

Project Level

You can subscribe or unsubscribe yourself or add others to notifications by heading to Settings > Notifications.

Ensure that the toggle in the top right is switched on. If this toggle is switched off, email notifications will be disabled for the project as a whole.

Email Notifications - Settings

Add users to the list of users by clicking + Add Users. You can add yourself or your teammates who are already BrowserStack users. This list is unique for each project. In the table, configure which emails you’d like each user to receive (Build Insights and Daily Summary) by selecting or deselecting the checkboxes.

User Level

Click Integrations on the sidebar, and click Configure next to Email.

This will open a modal that allows you to further select or deselect which types of emails you want to receive, and for which projects and builds from a populated list. Note that this is a configuration for your account only, and cannot be used to set preferences for other users.

Email Notifications - Personal Preferences

This option also allows a user to disable receiving emails entirely if they uncheck the checkboxes next to Daily Summary and Build Insights. Note that if a user has disabled these checkboxes, they will not receive any emails until they re-enable them, even if another user adds them to the list of recipients using the Settings > Notifications approach detailed above.

Troubleshooting if you aren’t receiving any emails

If you are not receiving any emails despite being added to a project and subscribed to Build Insights or Daily Summary emails via the Settings > Notifications, you will have to check your user-level settings.

Head to Integrations, and click Configure next to Email.

This will open a modal. Ensure that the check boxes next to Daily Summary and Build Insights are marked. If these are not checked, you will not receive any emails despite them being configured in the project-level settings.
