Test multi-touch gestures
Simulate multi-touch gestures on BrowserStack real devices to test app functionalities.
When testing on remote devices, you might find it difficult to replicate physical gestures, such as pinch-to-zoom or rotate, to trigger specific app actions or functionalities.
BrowserStack’s Multi-touch Gestures feature lets you programmatically simulate multi-touch interactions, such as two-finger or three-finger gestures. You can use it to test app features that respond to these gestures, such as zooming in on images or maps, rotating objects, navigating through app interfaces, controlling screen readers, or custom interactions.

Simulate two-finger gestures on BrowserStack real devices
To simulate two-finger gestures on Android and iOS devices:
- Log in to the App Live dashboard.
- Launch an App Live session.
- Once the device is ready, follow these steps to simulate a two-finger gesture:
- Hold the modifier key (Option on Mac, Alt on Windows).
- While holding the key, click anywhere on the device screen. This sets the position of the first finger and a second cursor appears on the screen, which defines the position of the second finger.
- While still holding the key, click and move the second cursor in the desired direction to simulate the gesture. For example, to simulate a pinch-to-zoom gesture, move the second cursor closer to the first cursor.
Simulate three-finger gestures on BrowserStack real Android devices
To simulate three-finger gestures on Android devices:
- Log in to the App Live dashboard.
- Launch an App Live session.
- Once the device is ready, follow these steps to simulate a three-finger gesture:
- Hold the modifier keys (Option + Shift on Mac, Alt + Shift on Windows).
- While holding the keys, click anywhere on the device screen. This sets the position of the first finger and a second cursor appears on the screen, which defines the position of the second finger.
- While still holding the keys, move the second cursor to the desired position on the screen and click. This sets the second finger and a third cursor appears on the screen, which defines the position of the third finger.
- Keep holding the keys, click, and move the cursor in the desired direction to simulate the gesture. For example, to simulate a three-finger swipe gesture, move the third cursor in the desired swipe direction.
The following video demonstrates the three-finger swipe left gesture to undo text on iOS devices.
