Get started with Bug Capture
Learn about the different ways you can install and use Bug Capture
BrowserStack offers two ways of integrating and using Bug Capture:
-
Browser extension: Use the browser extension if you are looking for a self-serve recorder that’s easy to install and use in a few clicks.
- Web SDK widget: Use the Web SDK widget to embed the Bug Capture recorder in your webpage with a single line of code. This allows all the visitors to your webpage to report bugs with Bug Capture.
Use cases of the Web SDK widget
The Web SDK widget can be used for the following cases:
-
Receive detailed bug reports from end customers
With the Web SDK widget installed on your website, you can receive detailed bug reports from your customers:- Simplified UI with fewer recording options
- Fully customisable interface that can be adjusted to match your company branding
- Can be used by anyone without the need to create an account to submit a bug
- Bug reporters will not be exposed to the technical bug reports, which our research has shown to be daunting for non-technical people.
-
Testing in virtual test environments
When testing in virtual environments like BrowserStack Automate, the Web SDK widget embeds directly in the testing page, thereby allowing technical logs to be recorded even within the virtual test environments. In these cases, the Web SDK widget interface can be customised to include more functional options like automations, folder selection, labels, and immediate bug report link access. -
Testing in mobile browsers
The Web SDK widget can be embedded in your web application as well. If your web application or page can be viewed in a mobile browser, the Web SDK widget can be activated and used to record bugs on mobile.
Note that native mobile applications are currently not supported.
