Connect to Confluence

In Visual Studio Code, Test Companion reads and updates Confluence pages through the Atlassian MCP server. You name the page in chat. Test Companion asks for your approval before it fetches the page.

Prerequisites for the MCP server

Ensure you have the following:

• Test Companion is installed in Visual Studio Code and you are signed in.
• An Atlassian account with permission to view the Confluence pages you want to use.

Connect the Atlassian MCP server

To connect the server:

1. Click ... (more options) on the Test Companion panel, then select MCP Servers.

2. Select the Catalog tab, then click Connect on the Atlassian card.

   

3. Sign in with your Atlassian account in the browser and grant the requested access, then return to your IDE. The Installed tab shows the server with a green dot and its tool count.

Use Confluence pages in chat

To work with a page:

1. Describe the task and name the page and its space. For example: Read the Confluence page "Checkout requirements" in the PAY space and generate test cases for the payment flow.
2. When the approval card appears, click Approve.

Test Companion reads the page and continues the task. It can also update a page when you ask, for example to add the generated test cases to it. Each update shows an approval card first.

You can also paste a Confluence page link in chat. A pasted link uses the BrowserStack integration described in the Other IDEs tab, not the MCP server.

In JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio, and Eclipse, Test Companion reads Confluence pages through the BrowserStack integration. You paste a page link in chat. This route also works in Visual Studio Code.

Prerequisites for the integration

Ensure you have the following:

• Test Companion is installed in your IDE and you are signed in.
• Your Confluence account is connected through the Confluence integration flow.
• You have permission to view the Confluence page.

Use Confluence links in Test Companion chat

After you connect Confluence, use Confluence links directly in the Test Companion chat to gather context:

1. Open Test Companion in IDE.

2. Paste one or more Confluence page link(s) directly into the chat message.

3. Enter your instructions regarding what you want Test Companion to do with the Confluence link(s).
4. Click Send message.

The skill processes the content of the Confluence page to fulfill your specific prompt. Whether you requested automation scripts, manual test scenarios, or logical analyses, the output is generated directly from the context of your requirements document.
