Spelling dictionary
Learn how to view, add, edit, and remove words in your group-level spelling dictionary to control which terms the Spell scanner flags.
The spelling dictionary is shared across all users in your group. When you add a word to the dictionary, the Spell scanner stops flagging it as an error in all future scan runs for every user in the group. You can manage the dictionary from a dedicated UI, add words one at a time, or upload words in bulk using a CSV file.
Access the dictionary
Open the Website Scanner and navigate to the spelling dictionary management page. You can also reach the dictionary from any Spell scan report by clicking the dictionary link.
The dictionary displays a table with the following columns:

|---|---|
| Spelling | The word stored in the dictionary. |
| Last Updated at | The date the entry was last modified. |
| Last Updated by | The user who last modified the entry. |
Use the search field to find a specific word in the dictionary.
Add a word
- Click Add in the dictionary management page.
- Enter the word you want to add.
- Confirm the entry.
The word takes effect on all future scan runs. Existing reports are not retroactively updated.
You can also add words directly from any Spell scan report by clicking Add to dictionary on a spelling error card. Words added from the report appear in this dictionary.
Edit a word
- Locate the word you want to edit in the dictionary table.
- Click the edit action for that entry.
- Modify the spelling and confirm.
The updated spelling takes effect on all future scan runs.
Remove a word
- Locate the word you want to remove in the dictionary table.
- Click the remove action for that entry.
- Confirm the removal.
After removal, the Spell scanner flags this word as an error again in future scan runs.
Bulk upload words
Upload a CSV file to add multiple words to the dictionary at once. This is useful when you need to suppress a large set of brand names, legal terms, or industry-specific vocabulary.
- Click Upload CSV in the dictionary management page.
- Select a CSV file containing one word per row.
- Review the upload summary. The summary shows the total number of rows in the file, the count of unique new words to add, the count of duplicate entries within the CSV, and the count of words already present in the dictionary.
- Confirm the upload.
All new words take effect on future scan runs.
