To date, these apps have been largely issue-free owing to the QA team’s efficient testing processes and cutting-edge visual testing capability provided by BrowserStack App Percy.
Over the last two years, Resimac embarked on a digital transformation journey to enhance its customer offering and experience. As part of this massive initiative, the company aimed to roll out four new mobile apps for customers across iOS and Android platforms. The mandate to deliver high-quality apps that are functionally and visually perfect was non-negotiable.
However, this was easier said than done due to the team’s small size, the volume of tests to be run, and a limited number of real devices available for testing. Outlining the challenge, Brian Healy, Resimac’s QA Lead, says, “We have quite a lean QA team and we needed to run a huge amount of regression tests. Though we were releasing four apps, they are across Android and iOS, so it’s essentially eight apps to be tested every time we get a new regression package. It was about 8000 regression scripts fortnightly, which isn’t feasible to be done manually.”
The team wanted to test the apps visually and functionally, leading them to try App Percy. Brian explains, “Even though an app works functionally, you have to test it visually so there are no UI or alignment issues. This is why we use App Percy. We looked at a number of alternative options, but we chose App Percy because it was important for us to test on real devices instead of emulators. We also liked the UI and simplicity.”

Without App Percy, we were likely to deliver apps that are functional but may have UI issues on certain device combinations.”
The integration of BrowserStack and Percy into Resimac’s build pipelines had a significant impact on the quality of the mobile apps. By running over 8000 regression tests fortnightly across real iOS and Android devices, Resimac was able to catch issues that may have gone unnoticed with manual testing. Automation also helped them speed up testing and deliver faster than before.
The adoption of BrowserStack and App Percy by Resimac’s QA team not only improved the overall quality of the mobile apps but also enhanced their confidence in the final product. “With App Percy, we are confident that our app looks [and functions] as we want it to look [and function],” says Brian. “I would recommend App Percy to others as it definitely adds value to visual testing efforts,” he adds.
