What is BrowserStack Accessibility?

BrowserStack Accessibility is a web-based tool for automatic identification and reporting of accessibility issues in the rendered front-end of your website or web app.

It has the following components:

  1. Accessibility Toolkit: A Chrome browser extension that has a workflow scanner which automatically detects accessibility issues as you naturally test user workflows across your website.
  2. Accessibility Dashboard: A reporting dashboard that helps you track all your accessibility issues across multiple test runs and enables easier VPAT report creation.

How does it work?

With the scanner active, you can naturally test your user workflows by interacting with the current webpage or navigating to other webpages.

The extension automatically identifies and collates unique accessibility issues across the webpages that you visit in a consolidated report. This eliminates the need for manual consolidation and de-duplication.

Once your scan is complete, you can save the report or export it as a CSV file. The saved reports can be viewed in the extension or the BrowserStack Accessibility dashboard.

Who is it for?

BrowserStack Accessibility is targeted towards the following users:

  1. Developers who need to manually look for accessibility issues during development and fix accessibility issues that have been identified in a user workflow.
  2. QA Testers who need to verify whether accessibility issues in a user workflow have been fixed after development is complete, and report the latest status of accessibility compliance.
  3. Product Managers who need to verify whether accessibility issues in a user workflow have been fixed after development is complete, and create an accessibility compliance report (i.e. VPAT report).
  4. Engineering leadership who need to keep track of all accessibility issues reported across multiple reports at a single place.
