Multi-Device Testing in a single tab
Note:
- Multi-Device Testing is currently in the Beta phase and available only under Team, Team Pro and Enterprise plans. Since the feature is in Beta, you might experience some stability issues.
- Multi-Device Testing runs only on Google Chrome.
- Multi-Device Testing in a single tab supports up to two devices. Multi-Device Testing in a single tab is not supported on Vivo, Oppo, and Huawei devices.
You can run test sessions of your app on two BrowserStack real devices in a single browser tab simultaneously. For example, you can test your app on an iPhone 13 and a Pixel 7 real devices together in a single tab.
Benefits of Multi-Device Testing in a single tab
- Test your app on families of devices together and compare them side by side.
- Seamlessly remove and add devices as you continue testing.
- Use a variety of features such as access app controls, rotate, and zoom in across both devices.
Test on multiple devices in a single tab
To test on multiple devices in a single tab, follow these steps:
- Log in to the App Live dashboard.
- Upload your app or select an app from the uploaded apps list.
- Select your preferred real device to run your app.
- Hover the cursor to the right side of the screen and click the + Add Device button.
- Select another real device to replicate the same tests on both devices.
- Use the toolbar to perform more actions or close the sessions together.
Device controls
In a single tab multi-device testing session, the vertical toolbar is divided into two sections: Single Device Controls and All Device Controls.
The following image shows the device controls:
-
Single Device Controls: These controls are the options that affect only the active device.
Active device is the currently selected device. It is also mentioned in the toolbar and is with the blue background. -
All Device Controls: These controls are the options that affect all devices in the session.
Unsupported toolbar options
The following toolbar options available on regular App Live test sessions are unsupported in single tab mutli-device testing:
- Local Testing
- Report a Bug
- View Open Apps
We are actively working to support most of these in single tab mutli-device testing in the near future. Currently, you can access these options in Mutli-Device Testing in multiple tabs.
