BrowserStack Live with the MCP server
Use natural language prompts in your AI assistant to launch Live sessions for manual testing on real browsers and devices with the BrowserStack MCP server.
Use the BrowserStack MCP server to launch BrowserStack Live sessions for interactive manual testing on real browsers and devices, directly from your coding assistant, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
To set up the server, see get started with the BrowserStack MCP server.
To use Live tools on the MCP server, you need a BrowserStack Live license. Contact BrowserStack support to enable a license for your account.
Workflows and tools
Your assistant picks the right tool for each request. You don’t need to name a tool in your prompt. Describe the outcome, and the assistant picks the tool. The MCP server logs every tool call, so you can confirm which tool a prompt used.
Testing a website on localhost needs the local MCP server, because the remote MCP server doesn’t support Local Testing. For the full list of browsers and devices, see BrowserStack Live supported devices and browsers.

Test your website step by step with your own MCP server
Your AI assistant can also open your website on BrowserStack and test it step by step for you, through Playwright MCP or Appium MCP.
- Desktop browsers: Use Playwright MCP. You need an Automate license. For setup steps, see Use Playwright MCP with BrowserStack.
- Mobile browsers on real devices: Use Appium MCP, which works with Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS. For setup steps, see Use Appium MCP or WebdriverIO MCP with BrowserStack.
