Desktop app v3.50.0 release notes

Release notes for BrowserStack’s Low Code Automation desktop app v3.50.0.

Date: August 19, 2026

This version includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

Improvements

  • Failed steps now name the actual cause instead of a generic certificate error. The message states when your site’s firewall or bot protection blocked the test traffic, and when the page was behind an authentication or access wall, along with a next step to act on.
  • A step that finds your element on the page but cannot see it now reports it as present but not visible, instead of asking you to re-record the test.
  • Visual validation failures now report their real cause, such as a certificate error, a network error, a disconnected browser session, or a hidden element. Screenshot capture is also more reliable on pages with animated elements.
  • Attribute assertions compare style attributes as CSS declarations rather than raw text, so formatting-only differences no longer fail a comparison.
  • AI steps now show their own failure reason while you record, so you can fix the step without re-running it.

Bug fixes

  • Recording inside iframes is more reliable. The recorder keeps capturing on pages that rewrite their own document, and no longer stalls on frames it cannot read.
  • Paste actions that a page intercepts with its own handler, and values that a page sets programmatically, are now recorded.
  • After an auto-executed step, recording continues on the tab you are actually working in, so steps added with Edit with recorder go to the correct tab.
  • Firefox tests now scroll to elements correctly inside nested scrollable areas, so scripts recorded once run across Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox without edits.
  • Browser launch switches are merged correctly, so the secure-connection prompt no longer blocks a test from running.
  • Module variables can be overridden from the calling test without keeping a placeholder variable step inside the module, including when the value drives an If condition.
