For many testers around the globe, the journey of learning and growth has been guided by the work of Manish Verma. A Test Architect and the educator behind the immensely popular "Software Testing Mentor" and "RCV Academy" platforms, he has dedicated his career to bridging the gap between theory and practice. With over 16 years of experience in roles from Test Manager to Scrum Master, and an extensive list of certifications, Manish combines deep industry knowledge with a passion for teaching. He is a proven leader who empowers the community by making complex topics accessible, making him a true Icon of Quality.

We spoke with Manish about his passion for solving challenges, the innovations he's most excited about, and why fundamentals are more important than ever in the age of AI.

What are the most exciting aspects of your role as a Quality Engineering Manager at Infosys?

The most exciting aspects of my role as QEM is to resolve process and tool related challenges for clients. Even with so many advancements in Test Automation and AI tools which are simple to implement, many organizations are still stuck with lengthy and manual processes to deliver quality products. I aim to figure out these challenges for my clients and implement solutions and tools which can enable the team to work more efficiently and deliver quality products much faster.

What’s a testing trend/innovation that’s got you excited these days?

Generative AI, MCP servers, and Agentic AI are some of the innovations which are very useful in testing space and can enable testers to work more efficiently. I am very excited about these innovations and currently implementing this technology is my existing test automation framework.

What's your hot take on AI in testing?

AI in testing is a blessing that will enable testers to work faster and act as a buddy. AI is helping testers across STLC right from designing tests, test execution, test automation, reporting and much more.

What's one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their career in testing?

Even though we have AI everywhere but the concepts of testing and automation, programming languages are must. You will be able to use any new technology, like AI effectively only if you know the fundamentals and can analyze the AI suggestions to ensure that they are correct and relevant in your project context.

My approach is built on a simple but powerful principle: Learning, Learning, and Learning. I make it a consistent habit to read and actively learn about new tools and trends in the technology space, and I genuinely enjoy it. For me, that commitment to continuous learning is the only way that has kept me up to date with any advancement in testing space.

What are the things you wish you knew about testing when you started your career?

I wish I had a broader perspective on how others in the community were solving real-world problems. Today, there’s a wealth of this knowledge available through online resources and experts sharing their experiences. In my early career, that communal wisdom wasn't easily accessible, and I had to learn most testing concepts from physical books with minimal help available online.

Outside of the tech world, what's a hobby or activity you're really passionate about?

I enjoy travelling and am always keen to plan trips whenever I have time and bandwidth out of my schedule.
