Create Projects and Test Cases

Learn how you can create projects and test cases in BrowserStack Test Management.

Test cases in Test Management are central repositories to create, organize, and store all your test cases. You can group test cases in suitable folders or sub-folders inside a project.

Create Projects

To create projects:

  1. Log in to Test Management.
  2. Click Create Project. Selecting Create Project button
  3. Enter a project name and description, and then click Create Project. Entering details to create a  project

Every project has three component sections:

  • Dashboard
  • Test Cases
  • Test Runs

View project elements

Use the project drop-down menu to switch between projects. Or, select View All Projects to list all the projects. Projects drop-down menu

Create Folder

Use folders to organize your test cases in a project. To create a folder:

  1. Click Create Folder. Create folder in project
  2. Enter a folder name and description, and then click Create Folder. Create folder form
  3. Click on kebab icon next to a folder. It has the following options:
    • Create Test Case: Create a test case within the folder.
    • Add Sub Folder: Add a folder within the folder.
    • Move Folder: Move the folder to a different location.
    • Edit Folder: Edit the folder name or description.
    • Delete: Delete the folder. Folder actions

Each folder displays two key metrics, X(Y):

  • Immediate Test Case count (X): This is the number of Test Cases directly within the folder, not including those in subfolders.
  • Cumulative Test Case count (Y): This is the total number of all Test Cases within the folder, including those nested in all subfolders.

The folder structure is typically hierarchical, with subfolders indented under parent folders. Each folder displays immediate and cumulative counts, providing insight into local and total Test Case numbers.

Create Test Case from Test Management

To create a Test Case:

Click Create Test Case. Create test case actions

Enter a Test Case Name and fill other mandatory details such as State, Owner, Priority, Type of Test Case, and Automation Status.

You can also define Tags, Attachments, and link a Jira issue, and/or Azure work items.

Form to create a test case

Choose a template type based on the following criteria.

  • Steps to define multiple steps and expected results for every step. Form to create a test case with steps template

  • Text to define a test case step in general text or paragraphs with an optional precondition. Form to create a test case with text template

Click Create.

You can also add a Test Case if the folder or project is new, enter the Test Case name and click Add. It adds the test case to the folder. Add a test case case in folder

Import Projects and Test Cases

Alternatively, you can quickly import your projects from TestRail or Zephyr Scale. Also, you can import data using a .csv file into an existing project. Either quick import of import test cases using a .csv file
