Set device date, time, and time zone on BrowserStack real devices

You can set the date, time, and time zone of your preference on BrowserStack devices to test app scenarios that require different date, time, and time zone on App Live. For example, time-specific notifications and updates, test cases with future timelines, timestamps for chat sessions on remote devices, and more.

Supported devices and format

Functionality Supported device Supported format
Change date Devices running iOS 16 Any date that is up to 7 days in the future from the current date.
For example, if the current date is 1 Jan 2024, you can set the new date to any date up to 8 Jan 2024.
The date is set in the DD/MM/YYYY format.
Change time Devices running iOS 13 and above 12-hour time format
Change time zone Device running iOS 13 and above  

This guide provides information about setting the date, time, and time zone on iOS devices. On Android devices, you can set the date, time, and time zone by launching your App Live test session and following the procedure mentioned in Google documentation.

Set date, time, and time zone

To set the date, time, and time zone of your preference on iOS, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the App Live dashboard.
  2. Select your app and the iOS device from the device listing to launch your test session.
  3. On the App Live vertical toolbar, click iOS Settings > General. Click iOS Settings and go to General
  4. Click Set Date & Time. Click Set Date and time
  5. On the Set Date & Time prompt, you can configure the following:
    • Set Date and Time Automatically:
      Switch this toggle to on to set the device date and time to the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
      The Set Date & Time Automatically setting is disabled by default. After you enable this setting, you cannot manually set the date, time, and time zone on the device. Toggle Set Date and Time Automatically setting
    • Date:
      In the Date text field, click the calendar icon. On the calendar, select the desired date. Click Apply.
      You can only select a date that is up to 7 days in the future from the current date. Set date
    • Time:
      From the time drop-down menus, select the hour, minutes, and am/pm to set the time in HH:MM XM format. Click Update time. Set time
    • Time Zone:
      From the Time Zone drop-down, select the time zone you want to set. You can also search and select your preferred time zone. After you select the time zone, the device time zone is changed and a confirmation message is shown. Set time zone

You can now perform your test with the desired device date, time, and time zone.
