VUH Calculator

Estimate the Virtual User Hours your load tests will need

Load testing on BrowserStack is measured in Virtual User Hours (VUH) — the number of virtual users a test runs, multiplied by how long it runs and how often you run it. Both API load tests and browser-based load tests draw from the same VUH pool, so a single number covers your entire testing programme. Read more to understand how VUH is calculated and what counts towards your usage.

Use this calculator to estimate the VUH you need across all your workloads. Add a workload for each test you run, enter the virtual users, duration and frequency, and the calculator shows your annual VUH.

API VUs

The number of virtual users generating API traffic in a single run.

Browser VUs

The number of virtual users running real browser sessions in a single run.

Duration & Frequency

How long each run takes, and how often you run it in a year. Runs shorter than 5 minutes are billed as 5 minutes.

Fill in the tests you plan to run, or start from an example.

Workload 1
k6, JMeter, Gatling, Locust. Billed per engine, not per user.
Playwright, Selenium, WebdriverIO, Nightwatch. Each costs 10× an API VU, with no engine rounding.
How long one run lasts. Under 5 minutes is billed as 5.

Runs per year. Used for the annual total — not a billing rule.
Advanced options
Load zones Where your traffic comes from. Capacity is allocated per zone and rounded up in each — so the same VUs split across zones can cost more than one zone.
